I scooped the New York Times
Thanks go out to my friend greentrabant who pointed out that I was 18 days ahead of the New York Times when I wrote that the old wing of the G.O.P. that I grew up with is dead (well, they say it is only dieing, I say stick a fork in it.)
I know that AYD thought that there were more seats in the Northeast that the Democrats should have won and I agree with him. But I still think that we need to realize that politics on the national level is in a new dynamic: the Northeast and the West Coast will be dominated by the Democrats, the South, most of the Midwest and Texas will be solidly Republican. That leaves the upper Midwest, West (with the exception on Utah) and the Southwest determining the balance of power going forward. So the race is on to win the Hispanic vote for the short and long term.
